The Furry Truth...

I think dogs are the most amazing creatures; they give unconditional love. For me they are the role model for being alive. ~Gilda Radner

I talk to him when I'm lonesome like; and I'm sure he understands. When he looks at me so attentively, and gently licks my hands; then he rubs his nose on my tailored clothes, but I never say naught thereat. For the good Lord knows I can buy more clothes, but never a friend like that. ~W. Dayton Wedgefarth

First and foremost, Oscar and Salem... what I am about to write in no way has any bearing in regards to how much I love you. In fact, in the world of cats you are both the best, however, your blog posting is saved for another day. So, please don't punish me by ruining anything in the house.

Today is a small tribute to Willow and Prue, the canines of my heart. For those of you who do not like dogs and/or animals I would suggest that you stop reading now, you won't understand.

There is unconditional love and understanding with them. Regardless of how long I have been out they greet me with the same enthusiasm as if I were a conquering hero, regardless if I had been gone 15 minutes or 5 hours.

The do not care what I look like, if my clothes are trendy enough, they do not use false flattery to get my attention.

When I am happy the readily go along for the ride, when I am crying, they stand guard and give comfort in their own doggy way.

There is a tremendous amount that I stand to learn, that everyone could and should learn, about the love, loyalty and trust that we receive from our animal companions. There is a truth in them that is to be cherished. Bravery that should be mimicked. Loyalty that we should strive for.

So, I raise the proverbial glass or water dish if you will, to Willow and Prue, a true blessing from heaven and my part of my proof in the Divine, may you have many years and many treats to come!
